Vue ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCHES EUROPE’S FIRST FULLY DIGITAL CINEMA

Vue Entertainment, the UK's leading developer and operator of state-of-the-art multiplex cinemas has invested £5m in the Princes Quay development in Hull to create the first new build fully digital cinema in Europe. The cinema will open on Friday 14 December,2007.

Vue Hull will be equipped with the very latest in digital projection technology offering the highest possible standards of picture and sound quality offering the ultimate cinema going experience, particularly when combined with the many other new innovations the cinema will feature and offer.

Tim Richards, CEO Vue Entertainment, said: "This ground breaking all digital cinema is hugely exciting not just for Vue and the community of Hull but for the cinema industry in the UK. We believe this development paves the way for the future of cinema by encouraging film distribution and studios into providing more films in digital format. The installation of a 10 Terabyte computer server allows over 100 movies to be stored at any one time, providing the opportunity to offer a wide and varied choice of movies.

This includes new movies with limited releases as well previously released films in digital quality for the first time on the big screen. Apart from films, we will be offering a new content covering music, sport and comedy which all combined will make Vue Hull an entertainment destination."

Another major benefit of digital projection is the installation of Digital 3D which offers a truly incredible movie experience that simply cannot be obtained anywhere else. More films are coming out all the time in 3D including Beowulf which opens in November.

The 10-screen all digital all stadium seated multiplex will feature Vue's latest thinking in cinema design. Following highly successful trials of the concept in Vue Thurrock, the cinema will have two "Vue Evolution" screens complete with beanbags, sofa pods and superior seating. This will create a unique environment for Vue customers to relax enjoy their chosen movie in a level of comfort not seen before. A satellite link to one of these screens will also enable the showing of live music, sport and comedy events under Vue's 'Larger than Live' brand.

In addition, Vue Hull will have a "Superior Seating" option in every screen. These are leather seats offering an even higher level of luxury comfort and extra leg room over the already industry leading comfortable stadium seats Vue uses.

Other offerings include a fully licensed bar a Ben and Jerry's refreshment stand as well as foyer seating and many other retail items. Innovations still to come include mobile ticketing where guests can have their tickets sent to their mobile phone and print at home ticketing.

Vue Entertainment is one of the UK's leading multiplex developers and operators of state of the art multiplex cinemas. Formed in May 2003, Vue is one of the fastest growing cinema companies in the country. Having acquired the Ster Century cinema chain at the end of April 2005, Vue announced a management buyout in June 2006 in partnership with Bank of Scotland Corporate, through its Integrated Finance Team in a deal valued in the region of £350 million. The Hull site brings Vue Entertainment's circuit to 62 sites in the UK and Ireland which continues its expansion following the opening in 2007 of multiplexes at The O2, Thanet, Stirling and the newly refurbished cinema at Thurrock plus Lancaster, Cleveleys, Swansea and Exeter which all opened in 2006.

Vue continues its expansion in 2008 with a programme of building new multiplexes across the UK and another 15 to 20 new sites are planned for the next two to three years. The company has the most modern cinemas in the UK, with over 90% stadium seating and as a result it won the prestigious award for International Exhibitor of the Year at Cinema Expo 2005.

CEO Tim Richards was awarded the title of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006 and he also won the Leisure Report Individual of the Year award.
