GSCA 2010 International Conference And Trade Show

Date: September 25-27, 2010
Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

There are many reasons to attend the GSCA International Conference and Trade Show. Here are the top 10:

10. You’ll love Chattanooga
It’s one of the greenest cities in the U.S., both in terms of landscape and the city’s commitment to lowering its carbon footprint. Fabulous restaurants and great shops are within a short walk or shuttle ride of the Marriott and the Tennessee Aquarium. And all of it is surrounded by the incredible natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, the Cumberland Plateau, and the Tennessee River. Stay an extra day or two to take in all the sites. Check out travel tips and photos from our site visit in July.

9. The Distributors Party
After a schedule packed with sessions, film screenings, meetings, a trade show and more, you deserve to have a little bit of fun. Each year the industry’s film distributors treat delegates to a music- and fun-filled event, and this year will be no exception. Kick up your heels on the dance floor and say goodbye to your colleagues on the last night of the conference at Chattanooga’s Rhythm and Brews (and this year we’ve reserved a quieter room adjacent to the party for those who prefer a lower-key event).

8. The GSCA Achievement Awards
Help us celebrate the industry’s accomplishments at the GSCA Achievement Awards. The presentation will be even more dynamic this year, with guest presenters and a moving tribute to IMAX co-founder Robert Kerr.

7. Giant Screen 101
Whether you’re new to the industry or need some new ideas on how to manage or market your theater, attend this session and you’ll go home with a long list of ideas to put into practice.

6. An update on “Bigger. Bolder. Better” and DIGGS
The member luncheon on Saturday, September 25, will include updates on GSCA’s marketing initiative “Bigger. Bolder. Better.” and The White Oak Institute’s Digital Immersive Giant Screen Specifications (DIGSS) to advance the film-based, global network of science-oriented GS theaters.

5. Keynote speaker Andrew Zolli
Andrew Zolli helps senior leaders at some of the world's preeminent companies, institutions, and governments see, understand, and respond to complex change (and one thing we can all agree on is that our industry is indeed changing).

4. The GSCA Trade Show
It's the industry’s premier marketplace. Producers, distributors, manufacturers, suppliers, and other services will be featured at the industry’s only trade show. With great food and prizes offered throughout the four-hour event, take your time to wander the floor to seek out the films, products, and services you need.

3. Professional development sessions
This year’s sessions will address everything from marketing to social media to digital distribution to projectionist issues (click here for a full description of the sessions). Stay on top of the latest technology, trends, and industry best practices with the information provided in these sessions.

2. Nearly 60 film projects to be presented
See 10 new films, 18 films in production 15/70, 13 films in production digital clips, and 17 projects in development. The GSCA conference is the best way to see what’s in the pipeline so you can plan future film schedules.

1. Networking, networking, networking
Face time is the best way to get your film, product, or service known to the industry. It’s also the best way to share ideas and learn from your colleagues. The people you want to do business with will be in Chattanooga at the GSCA conference.
