GSCA Presents Its 2008 Achievement Awards

The 2008 Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) presented its 2008 Achievement Awards at the GSCA International Conference and Trade Show Awards Gala in Jersey City, New Jersey, on September 10, 2008. In addition to the GSCA awards, IMAX presented two awards as well. Awards presented this year include the following:

Best Giant Screen Film
Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure, produced and distributed by National Geographic

Best Film Produced Non-Exclusively for the Giant Screen
U2 3D, produced by 3ality Digital Entertainment and U2 Ltd., distributed by National Geographic.

Best Film for Learning
Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure, produced and distributed by National Geographic.

Best Original Score
Wild Ocean 3D, Produced by Yes/No Productions and Giant Screen Films, distributed by Giant Screen Films. Score by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas.

Best Sound Design
Wild Ocean 3D, Produced by Yes/No Productions and Giant Screen Films, distributed by Giant Screen Films. Sound designers Mike Roberts, Brian Eimer and J.R. Fountain.

Best Cinematography
Grand Canyon: River at Risk 3D, produced and distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films. Cinematography by Greg MacGillivray, Doug Lavender, Brad Ohlund, Ron Goodman, and Jack Tankard.

Best Film Launch by a Theater
Science Museum of Boston for its launch of The Alps

Best Marketing by a Distributor
MacGillivray Freeman Films for Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk 3D

Best Theater Launch
Myrtle Beach IMAX Theater

Big Idea Award
National Geographic for its coordinated day-and-date release of Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure to 260 screens worldwide—the largest ever day-and-date release of traditional giant screen film.

IMAX Corporation presented the following awards at the GSCA gala:

Hall of Fame Award
Into the Deep

Best Booth Award
National Geographic IMAX Theatre at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
