DTS Digital Cinema
is proud to announce that it has encoded the highly anticipated
release of the Mexican production "La Leyenda de la Nahuala,"
utilizing its JPEG2000 variable bit rate encoder. The November
1 release date of "La Leyenda de la Nahuala" in
Mexico will mark the first release of a Mexican production
which meets the digital cinema specifications set by the major
Hollywood studios. The release will be screened in select
cinemas on the DTS FilmStore® Digital Cinema Player which
meets DCI specification for 2K resolution JPEG2000 content
and further marks the debut of the FilmStore in Mexico.
DTS Digital Cinema Director of Business Development, Gerald
Hensley says, This cooperation with the Nahuala team
is just one example of how we are assisting the Mexican film
industry in the transition toward the new digital world.
Hensley continues, Our cooperation with the production
company, Animex, allows DTS Digital Cinema to showcase all
aspects of our digital cinema offering from JPEG2000 encoding
through creation of the digital cinema packages (DCPs) and
security keys, delivery of drives and KDMs to the theatres
through to playout using the DTS FilmStore Digital Cinema
Player.
One of the films producers, Jean-Pierre
Leleu, says, Animex is thrilled to make Mexican cinema
history by releasing the first digital picture in the country
which meets the Hollywood studio specifications for D-Cinema
playback. We are fully aware of what this step represents
for our patrons -- to see and hear the best digital entertainment

quality of `La Leyenda de la Nahuala' will no doubt contribute
to its success. Our thanks to the DTS Digital Cinema team
for helping us fulfill our dream.
Hensley states, `La Leyenda de la
Nahuala' is a beautifully made animated film that will delight
all the family. The high quality craftsmanship in the production
of this feature is equaled by the formidable talent behind
the characters voices among the most popular
