Panavision Heads Into Theatres With Hybrid 3D System
Celluloid Junkie recently published an article on Panavision's entry into the 3D Digital Cinema market.
 
The solution was developed over the course of two-and-a-half-years, in a joint venture between Panavision, Omega Optical, a company based in Brattleboro, Vermont that specializes in high-end optical filters, and Deluxe, the motion picture lab.
 
Twentieth Century Fox and SmartJog Announce Agreement for electronic distribution of Digital Cinema content to Europe
Twentieth Century Fox and SmartJog announced that they have signed a non-exclusive agreement for satellite distribution of digital cinema content to theatres in Europe.
 
Under the terms of the agreement, SmartJog will deliver Twentieth Century Fox movies in digital format to exhibitors connected to SmartJog's Pan-European digital cinema network.

Sony signs Purchasing Agreements with Digital Cinema Implementation Partners
Sony Electronics announced it has entered into purchase agreements with Digital Cinema Implementation Partners, under which Sony Digital Cinema 4K projection systems will be deployed to both AMC Entertainment Inc. and Regal Entertainment Group theatres across the United States.
 
Both AMC and Regal plan to install the Sony 4K systems across their circuits, creating the most extensive 4K deployment to date, with many of the screens planned to be outfitted for 3D using a combination of Sony and RealD 3D projection technology.
Europe's Finest takes over film package from Celluloid Dreams for digital distribution
The Cologne digital cinema distribution platform Europe's Finest, is offering nine festival successes from the current slate of Celluloid Dreams in DCI-compliant format for direct booking for European digital cinemas.
Digital Cinema Media select Unique Digital Screen Advertising Accord
Digital Cinema Media Ltd (DCM) will migrate to the new Advertising Accord v4, a hybrid 35mm and Digital content management solution developed and supplied by Unique Digital.
 
Barco 'Series 2' digital cinema projector passes DCI compliance testing
Barco announced that its 'Series 2' digital cinema projector has passed the procedural test for DCI compliance administered by CineCert, the leading 3rd party authorizing test facility.
 
The DCI standard was created by the Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) to ensure a consistent and extremely high image quality for the cinema audience. Additional benefits include content security and optical performance, including color, uniformity, and contrast. By establishing a common set of requirements, DCI standards guarantee worry-free compatibility and interoperability for distributors, studios, exhibitors, manufacturers and vendors.
2010 NAB Digital Cinema Summit
The theme for this year's summit, produced by SMPTE, the Entertainment Technology Center at USC, and the European Broadcasting Union is "3D - Cinema and Home."
