New Christie IMB, Software Upgrades for HFR and DCI Compliancy Deliver the Total Solution and Best Long-Term Return on Investment for Exhibitors

Christie announced that its Solaria Series 2 CP4230 and CP4220 projectors have obtained Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) certification following compliance testing by CineCert, LLC.

The Christie CP4230 was the world’s first superior 4K digital cinema projector and the latest addition to the Christie Solaria series. The Christie CP4220 and Christie CP4230 provide the brightest, highest resolution in their class, as well as the most robust and cost-effective 4K DLP Cinema solutions.

“Ours was the first 4K DLP Cinema projection system to be demonstrated publicly, over a year ago at IBC 2010, and then officially launched several weeks later,”” said Don Shaw, director, product management, Christie Entertainment Solutions. “”We welcome the certification, which will be of most interest to our largest customers whose plans include showing the latest in ultra-high resolution, superior cinema content to their most discerning audiences.”

Numerous theater chains and independent cinema groups around the world have purchased the CP4220 and 4230 projectors, including Southern Theatres (USA); Cineplex Inc. (Canada); CCI (Europe/Israel) and United Circuit, a subsidiary of the Shanghai Film Group (SFG) Corporation (China). The latest Christie Solaria CP4220 and CP4230 projectors feature the Christie 4K+4 advantage, which includes maximum performance for 3D, Christie Pixel Track™ technology for optimum image quality, simple maintenance procedures and the lowest cost of ownership of any digital projector on the market.

All Solaria Series 2 projectors are designed to integrate seamlessly with the Christie IMB – a complete, integrated media block (IMB) solution planned to be available in early 2012 – and the currently available Christie Previsto™ High Frame Rate (HFR) technology.

Featuring complete Cinema content support, as well as MPEG2 and H.264 support for preshow advertising and alternative content, the design of Christie’s IMB is grounded in a solid understanding of a projector’s software, thermals, vibrations and internal power supply, ensuring the most reliable projection system on the market. The combination of the Christie CP4220 or Christie CP4230 and Christie IMB, offered by the world’s largest manufacturer of digital cinema projectors, brings exhibitors ultimate confidence that they will be ready for upcoming 4K or 3D HFR movies in a single projector system.
