October 5, 2009

Arts Alliance Media (AAM) announced that it has agreed terms with international sports agency Kentaro Group to deliver the Ukraine vs. England FIFA World Cup qualifier game live via satellite from the Dnipro Arena in Dnipropetrovsk to UK cinemas on Saturday 10th October at 5:15 pm (UK time). The match will not be shown on television – either terrestrial or subscriber.

Cinema booking negotiations are currently in progress. Odeon Cinemas have confirmed 12 screens across the UK, including the Odeon Leicester Square, a site normally best known for hosting glamorous film premieres in London?s West End. See below for current list of sites.

Further screens will be announced shortly on www.artsalliancemedia.com. Other than in cinemas, the game will only be shown over the internet on a pay-per-view basis, via digital sport specialist Perform.

Even though England have already qualified for the World Cup, this international clash is considered to be the toughest remaining competitive match that the national team will face before the tournament in South Africa next year. England have won all eight of the qualifying games in this world cup campaign – scoring 31 goals and conceding just 5 under Coach Fabio Capello.

Arts Alliance Media CEO, Howard Kiedaisch commented “Arts Alliance Media is committed to bringing all kinds of entertainment to digital cinemas, and we?re thrilled to be making our first move into sports on the big screen with Kentaro. Watching live football in the cinema is an exciting and immersive experience and we are looking forward to getting this sought-after match out to people across the country.”

Philipp Grothe, CEO of the Kentaro Group said “We will shortly be revealing our plans for a landmark, internet-only, pay-per-view broadcast. To support this we will stage big screen events for fans around the country and our partnership with Arts Alliance Media will give thousands of cinema goers the chance to enjoy the key game, en masse.”
