EPIX presents a Stark Raving Black production of the comedy
of Lewis Black in an 80 minute feature film of outrageous
topical stand up humor from one of the most hilarious entertainers
of our generation. This is Lewis Black's first theatrical
concert film and it serves up his blistering social and political
commentary on current events.
The movie's theatrical release is the culmination of his best
material from 2009 and two recent shows shot with 10 cameras
in Full HD and 5.1 Surround Sound at the historic Fillmore
Theatre in Detroit on August 2, 2009.
Black executes a brilliant trifecta as stand-up comedian,
actor and author. Since his weekly segment, Back in Black,
on the Comedy Central series, The Daily Show, Black has taped
four comedy specials for the network, as well as original
shows including Lewis Black's The Root of All Evil. He has
released critically acclaimed comedy CDs and taped two HBO
specials that have earned him Emmy and Grammy nominations
as well as a Grammy win for Best Comedy Album.
Despite a busy touring schedule as a stand-up comedian, Black
has also starred in feature films such as Man of the Year
and Accepted among others, authored two best selling books,
and penned over 40 plays.
But in the face of these achievements, Black maintains he
is "an actor, author, comedian, political commentator,
but most of all as a respectable Jewish guy that you can bring
home to your mother."
About Lewis Black:
Lewis Black is the rare comic who can cause an audience to
laugh themselves into incontinence while making compelling
points about the absurdity of our world. Beginning as a playwright-in-residence
at New York's West Bank Café, Black honed his skills
as both an actor and stand-up comedian.
After increased exposure on Comedy Central productions such
as The Daily Show in his weekly segment Back in Black, Comedy
Central Presents, and Lewis Black's the Root of All Evil,
Lewis Black has gone on to release critically acclaimed comedy
records, HBO comedy specials, author bestselling books, write
over 40 plays, and star in several feature films.
He has been graced with 2 Grammy nominations and one win for
Best Comedy Album for his work in The Carnegie Hall Performance.
Despite his busy schedule, Black continues to perform over
200 nights a year to sell out audiences throughout Europe,
New Zealand, Canada and The United States.
